Turning The First Sod -
1 August 2013
Investa Land has commenced construction of their new 1,600 lot Bloomdale masterplanned community located in Diggers Rest, 30 kilometres north west of the Melbourne CBD. City of Melton Mayor, Cr Kathy Majdlik 'turned the first sod' along with Investa Land's General Manager of Victoria, Paul O'Brien. There were over 80 in attendance, including Councilors, council executives and staff, purchasers, builder partners, consultants and the local community.

Releases 1 and 2 of Bloomdale, totaling 50 lots, have already sold out. The Display Village, totaling 20 lots, is progressing well with good interest from major builders. The next land release, the Burrow Release, totals 29 lots and is now selling from $163,000 with lots ranging in size from 336m2 to 582m2.

Bloomdale totals 143 hectares and will take approximately 10 years to fully develop, eventually accommodating over 4,500 people. The site was purchased by Investa Land back in July 2010. Bloomdale will include a Neighbourhood Activity Centre (NAC) with a major supermarket (already committed), specialty and convenience shops, an entertainment precinct, commercial space and a community centre. The NAC will create over 1,200 jobs, along with the designated 'Employment Area' along Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road.

Paul O'Brien, General Manager Victoria, Investa Land said "Our vision for Bloomdale, is the creation of a sustainable community for both new and existing residents that provides day-to-day services, enhances local connectivity and cultivates a strong sense of community, while adding positively to the character and amenity of the local area."

"It's been refreshing to work with a Council that is committed to rolling out planning outcomes quickly and efficiently," Mr O'Brien said.

Mayor of the City of Melton, Cr Kathy Majdlik said "The City of Melton is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, which is why planned residential developments such as this are so critical for our community.

"Developments such as the Bloomdale masterplanned community in Diggers Rest further enhance the City of Melton's appeal as an outstanding place to live, work and play, and I'm confident that it will become a highly sought after location to build a home and raise a family," the Mayor said.

"We look forward to continuing to work closely with our stakeholders over the coming years to deliver parks, open space, a new town centre, community facilities and upgrades to roads and infrastructure for the local community; benefiting both existing and new residents."
