Diggers Rest Primary School - 12 March 2014

A big tick for Bloomdale is undoubtedly the easy access to a range of existing amenities and facilities, such as the Diggers Rest Primary School, which has been part of the community since 1882.

School's back for another year, so we caught upwith the new Principal, Rachelle Hedger, to find outwhat’s on the report card for 2014.

Parents and students at Diggers Rest Primary School first met new principal Rachelle Hedgerwhen she served as Acting Principal for a termin 2013.

The former Roxburgh Homestead Primary School leader, who obtained a Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of  Melbourne in 2006, quickly fell in love with the school, where each individual is known and valued and committed to the head role for 2014 and beyond.

"The school has high expectations of its students and fosters their learning and development in a calm and structure denvironment," Ms Hedger said.

"It's a place where every individual matters and where they are nurtured."

Ms Hedger’s focus for 2014 will be on strengthening the school’s links with the community and ensuring proper preparations are made, ahead of the influx of students that residential development at Bloomdale will bring.

"Our staff will also be focussed on providing best practice teaching and a learning environment that ensures students’ academic, social and emotional progress," Ms Hedger said.

"It's an exciting time at Diggers Rest Primary and we’re looking forward to a successfulschool year."
