Vision
The overarching vision for Bloomdale is the creation of a sustainable community for new and existing residents that provides day-to-day services, enhances local connectivity and cultivates a strong sense of community, while adding positively to the character and amenity of the local area. Bloomdale is positioned as an accessible, country enclave within 30 minutes of Melbourne's CBD.

  • Approved by the Minister in June 2012
  • A total of 4,272 lots which will eventually accommodate over 11,970 people
  • A mix of housing diversity, including conventional, medium density and high density dwellings
  • A central community hub and local town centre on the western side of Vineyard Road
  • New parks, open space, streetscaping and sporting facilities
  • 28 hectares of employment land to the south - likely to be light industrial, warehousing/logistics, auto repairs, etc - not heavy industry
  • Major infrastructure upgrades

  • A high quality, new residential community located in the heart of a richly historic township, which offers a country enclave only 30 minutes from Melbourne' CBD and only 20 minutes from the airport
  • A total of 1,400 residential lots with an average size of approximately 480m2, that will eventually be home to over 3,800 people
  • Well located and easily accessible location by both car and train, Bloomdale has the new Diggers Rest Station and the Calder Freeway at its doorstep. Diggers Rest Station has capacity for 550 cars, with Metro services running every 12 minutes during the morning and evening peak periods
  • Future town centre precinct with proposed full line major supermarket, specialty retail shops, tavern and entertainment precinct. Bloomdale is also proposed to include a service station and medical centre
  • Integrated community facilities including a community centre, a pre-school, meeting rooms and community meeting space
  • Environmentally sustainable where best practice standards will be implemented
  • Extensive parks and open space linkages with Australian native trees and shrubs, providing shade and comfort along the footpaths and streets
