Take 3 for the Sea at Bloomdale
What an incredible weekend as Bloomdale joined the #Take3fortheSea movement!
We were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm from Bloomdale residents and the local Diggers Rest community who joined us in learning about how we can reduce plastic pollution and do more to protect our parklands and waterways.
We had an incredible day on Friday 15 March at Diggers Rest Primary School, where Take 3 CEO and co-founder Tim Silverwood presented to more than 60, year 5 and 6 students on the issue of plastic pollution and the message behind #Take3.
On Friday evening we were joined by a host of locals at our exclusive screening and Q&A session of the award-winning documentary, Blue the film, at Reading Cinemas Sunbury. If you couldn’t make it to the event, you can download Blue the film on iTunes and watch it wherever you are.
More than 60 people turned out on Saturday 16 March to help us #Take3fortheSea at Bloomdale Oval, including Melton Deputy Mayor Cr Lara Carli, Cr Michelle Mendes and representatives from both the Diggers Rest Burras Football Club and the Diggers Rest Cricket Club. Participants spent just one hour to collect a staggering 75kg of waste – more than 3,000 pieces of rubbish – from the surrounding areas of the oval, with the clean-up session followed by a waste audit and discussion with Tim Silverwood.
We certainly learnt a lot over the weekend and are looking forward to continuing to share the #Take3fortheSea message with the Bloomdale community.
